Demolition has begun on a new project for the City of Leesburg that will reshape how the heart of the city looks. It’s the latest of a number of projects across Lee County and the second recently inside Leesburg city limits.
New renderings released by the Lee County Chamber of Commerce show a new view of what the new project could look like once complete. The rendered images show the addition of at least two new storefronts and what we are told will be a breezeway along the historic downtown storefronts along Walnut Ave. in Leesburg.
Much of the original building in between the red Lawyer building and where the new Bloom store is located is being gutted for the project. The result, according to the renderings provided by the city will be two new places for businesses to set up shop.

What makes this construction project interesting is the breezeway just to the left of the two new storefronts. The rendered images show an open-air, paved pass-through area, which could indicate a side entrance for one of the storefronts. What 229 Life has been told so far is the breezeway will be a path to additional parking planned for behind the buildings.
The names or types of businesses which will inhabit the new space have not been named, but sources tell 229 Life the owners are committed to bringing a quality business to Leesburg.

Whatever the new building turns out to be and whoever takes up residence in the new storefronts, this addition is anticipated to bring a new level of energy and traffic into Downtown Leesburg.
